Church in the 21st Century

Consultation 1_SnapseedRev. Dr. Scot Sherman contributed to a consultation on “Church in the 21st Century” hosted at Grace Cathedral this February.  This event was a wonderful opportunity to network with local leaders and share best practices for church planting and revitalization. We asked The Rev. Julia McCray-Goldsmith of the Episcopal Diocese of California for a few thoughts on this event.
“The Episcopal Diocese of California— and our eighty Bay Area congregations— are grateful for the witness of imaginative sisters and brothers in Christ who are rethinking and reclaiming historical models of local ministry. Because we are inspired by the example of City Church San Francisco, we were pleased that the Rev. Dr. Scot Sherman accepted our invitation to be part of our recent consultation on “Church in the 21st Century” hosted at Grace Cathedral. Scot was joined by Tim Soerens, Seattle-based author of The New Parish. The two invited leaders offered their own experience in new ministry development as good practices, while engaging dialogue and questions with local Episcopal leaders committed to catalyzing new ministries and revitalizing longstanding ones.”
