Chuck DeGroat / Senior Fellow

Chuck is a co-founder of Newbigin House along with Rev. Dr. Scot Sherman, and serves as a Senior Fellow. His is Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at our partner seminary – Western Theological Seminary. He is a professor in both the NHS/WTS M.Div. and M.A. programs, as well as National Director for the Newbigin Fellows program.
Chuck has served as a Teaching Pastor at City Church SF, as well as both a professor and Director of Spiritual Formation at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando). Chuck contributes as a writer to many academic and popular journals and magazines, and speaks often at conferences and retreats. He has started two church-based clinical counseling centers. He is author of the book Leaving Egypt: Finding God in Wilderness Places. He and his wife of 19 years have two daughters.
